Honestly - I was playing Choices on those MODs for about 10 years. I enjoyed it very much, because most of the stories then were incredible.
But in recent years, the quality of the stories has been dropping and dropping, until it completely plummeted after that AI company took over.
Sure, there are still a few titles I'd like to read, but those are just some singular titles.

However, "thanks" to the Choices MODs being no longer available, I finally downloaded Romance Club. So far, I've only been able to read 7 stories, but it has a completely different level of both writing and reader engagement than the new Choices has. My friend who played Choices for a similar length as I, and me are really thrilled with Romance Club.
This is also because they usually have an event every week where all diamond choices are free. Of course, because the stories are quite long, it's hard to read a whole one during one such event. And outside of the event, diamond choices are quite expensive, especially in newer stories. However, it still allows you to fully experience great stories completely free, even if it's going a bit slow sometimes.

i completely agree. story quality dropped significantly. dialogue is weird, those ai sprites are weird. it looks really really cheap now. a part of me isnt so upset there isnt a mod anymore. ig i can just read regular dating sims or visual novels.

I don’t see anyone talking about this PDALIFE.com has a working mod. Items in the closet still use diamonds but the premium choices during the story doesn’t. I’ve only tested it on one device but it did work for me.

In-closet choices have never been free, even in older MODs.
But I just tested the one you're talking about, and it actually works! The first premium hair still cost diamonds, but in previous working MODs it was often the case, that the first premium outfit was for some reason not free. However, the next premium outfit and premium story choices are free. You just have to enable it in the MOD's settings.

I stated about the closet because a mod did have the closet free on 9mod.com but the choices in the story are not also codymods currently state that the closet is free in a recent update. Also the first premium outfits and hairstyles are usually not free because you are in the closet during setup.

You can even still check out the mod with the closet working but not story premiums it’s still on 9mod, liteapks and gamedva. It’s stated to be version 4.6.8 but it is actually version 4.6.5 as noted on gamedva. The one that is about 150 mb
